Driving time and best route from Hvar town to Sucuraj

I know this is a frequent topic, but wanted to see if you could estimate the time it takes to drive from Hvar town to Sucuraj (ferry).
It will be early on a Saturday at the very start of June 2011. And I'm hoping to catch the 11:15 ferry to Drvenik. Also do you know if in June there will be a ferry from Drevnik to Korcula or will I have to go to Ploce?

Hi Tamara,

first of all, the route over Hvar island is just phenomenal (at least in my opinion). You have some fabulous views to the neighboring islands Brac and Korcula - and the deep blue Adriatic is gorgeous. Just one hint: don't expect a good road. Indeed, the road itself is an adventure on it's own. There are some really narrow parts - just take care :-)

I've documented our ferry-trip from Drvenik to Sucuraj on Hvar island here.

As for your question:
If I remember accurately we drove around 1h 15min from Hvar city to the ferry in Sucuraj. The distance is something around 75 kilometers. To be on the safe side I would recommend to calculate at least 1h 30min --> maybe even two hours (please note that you also have to purchase the ferry ticket on the port).

Reminder: During high season it could happen that there are more cars wating for the ferry than they can ship at once. In such a case you would need to wait around 45 minutes to get the next ferry. Just wanted to mention that...

As for your second question:
I am not 100% sure but I think that the ferry connection between Drvenik and Korcula was cancelled in 2010. There's definitely a route over Ploce.

For details please see the website of the national ferry carrier - Jadrolinija.

Hope that helps!
All the best,
